As we wind down this year and start thinking about next year, I’m starting to think about some changes I can make to my menu planning. There are going to be some changes here at the WWIN household beginning this week. Mike has accepted a new position at work which means that he’s not going to be home a lot in the evenings. With Michael out of the house and Belle’s work/extra curricular activities that will mean a lot of nights home by myself.
When I first heard about Mike’s new schedule I was pretty bummed. We enjoy spending evenings together and I knew I was going to miss him. Then I decided to look on the bright side.
- We’ll have a lot less opportunities to eat out which should help the budget.
- I’ll have more free time to cook and less resistance to new recipes. This will also mean new post material – yeah!
- I’ll be able to do things I wouldn’t normally due during the week because of my need to get home.
See – there’s always a bright side.
This week we’re still in holiday mode so there won’t be a whole lot of cooking. We have three parties to go to which should also help keep the grocery budget down a bit.
For a New Year’s Eve party I’ll be taking my Bacon Wrapped Weiners
For our New Year’s Day celebration (it’s my father-in-law’s birthday), I’ll be bringing Granny’s Cranberry Relish
For our last Christmas party of the season I’ll be bringing my strawberry stuff champagne cupcake. I haven’t shared the recipe with you yet but am planning to in January. I’ll also be taking over my Triple Chocolate Cupcakes.
