Enter to Win a Week of Plated! Week 1

Thai Peanut Chicken Curry

Update:  Winners are Jackie and Theresa.  You will receive instructions via e-mail how to claim your free plates.  Thanks for entering!

It should come as no secret to regular readers how much I love Plated.com. After all, most of my recent recipes have been some of our favorites that we’ve tried from there. Every week the majority of my menu is food that I’m having delivered.

For those of you who don’t know what Plated.com is, it’s basically a service that allows you to order the ingredients (plus recipes) of meals to be delivered to your house weekly. Mike and I started using the service earlier this year as a way to break out of our food rut (you know – same recipes week after week after week), eat a bit healthier and stop the insanity of all the take-out we were getting.

When I first told Mike I was going to try it I got a “whatever you want to do” from him. He wasn’t as excited as I was but he’s usually onboard with my ideas as long as they aren’t to crazy. That one at least was going to allow him some potentially yummy meals.

After our first box we were hooked! Although a tad bit pricey (two “plates” which is basically one meal for two people runs about $24 delivered) since it’s just the two of us (Belle is never home) and we were spending a fortunate in take-out we didn’t think it was too bad.

Giveaway – Lia Sophia

Do I have some exciting news to share with you!  I have TWO, count them, TWO Lia Sophia necklaces to give away.  Each of them valued at $100!  How cool is that?  Here are the two necklaces that are up for grabs.

In case you weren’t fortunate enough to be in the audience of the Wendy Williams show when she gave every audience member this Full Bloom necklace, you have a chance to win it here!

Jamboree Necklace found on page 11 of the catalog.

My cousin Heather and her daughter Breanna are Lia Sophia consultants.  Heather has graciously donated these items so that two of my lucky readers have an opportunity to win them.  Not only are you going to have a chance to win one of these necklaces, I’m going to share with you how to get entered into a drawing for a separate giveaway that Heather is sponsoring.  Also, as if that isn’t enough, right now Lia Sophia is running a special where you buy two items at full price (cheapest items are at full price) and you get FOUR items at half price.  This is an awesome way to add to your jewelry collection or buy a birthday/Christmas (it’s never to early to start!) present for a mother/sister/daughter.

I was introduced to Lia Sophia about 10 years ago through a book party at work.  Earrings are difficult for me to wear due to some kind of allergic reaction I have.  My lobes swell up and itch like crazy.  I tried expensive earrings, cheap earrings, nickel free earrings, you name it and I probably tried it.  I decided to try a pair of Lia Sophia earrings and I was hooked!  These are one of the few earring manufacturers that don’t cause me to go insane with itchy ear lobes!

Over the years I’ve added quite a few pieces to my collection.  One of my favorites is a strand of faux brown pearls I received as a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law.  She had an awesome party and received an unbelievable amount of jewelry either free or super cheap.  Her Christmas shopping that year was pretty easy!  I’ve been very happy with every piece that I’ve bought.  The quality is excellent, I’m still wearing items from my first order!  The time or two that I had problems, Lia Sophia was quick to replace it with their lifetime guarantee.

A few bits of information about Lia Sophia.  First of all, don’t let the book prices scare you off.  They offer phenomenal sales and a terrific hostess program.  If you see something you like that’s out of your price range, host a book party!  The company was originally named Lady Remington to align with the Remington shaver company which the founder (Victor Kiam) had purchased.  When the company passed into the hands of Victor’s son, he renamed the company after his daughters (Lia and Sophia).  All pieces are designed in their studio so you won’t find these in stores.  They offer a lifetime replacement guarantee (with receipt and a $5 processing fee) for pieces that break.  They are also a huge supporter of Dress for Success which is one of my favorite organizations.

Heather and Breanna have been selling Lia Sophia for about a year now and have been having a blast doing so.  Heather hadn’t heard about Lia Sophia until she went to her first party and then booked not one but two parties of her own!  They started their business as a way to spend some time together without the boys and hopefully earn some money to pay for a family vacation.  Looks like they were having a pretty fabulous time on their recent trip!  Heather has shared with me how fun it’s been to watch Breanna blossom into a business woman.

Heather and Breanna

Alright, I’m sure you’ve heard enough and just want me to get to the good stuff!  You have up to five ways to enter.  The first one is required (don’t worry it’s really easy) while the other four are optional but will increase your chances of winning.  Winner will be drawn on March 4th and notified shortly thereafter.  Here you go!

1.  Leave a comment at the end of this post with your e-mail address and which necklace would be your first choice.  The first name picked will get their choice.  This will give you one entry and is required to be entered.

2.  Visit Heather’s Facebook page and “like” for another entry.  By doing this step you will also be entered into a separate drawing that Heather will be conducting in March for all her Facebook fans.

3.  Visit my party page (a purchase is not required but if you do want to place an order pr book a catalog party this is where you would do so), click on the CONTACT button in the upper right and send a note to Heather with what your favorite piece of jewelry is.  She will NOT contact you unless you specifically ask her to in the comments.

4.  Subscribe to my blog under NEVER MISS A POST and be sure to check your email for the activation email (it sometimes shows up in the spam folder.

5.  Follow me on Twitter

Before I close, let me give you a hint on how to get the most out of your Lia Sophia order.  First of all, go in with a friend (or multiple friends) and split the price of the full price item.  If all your items are pretty expensive, it’s usually worthwhile to buy the cheapest item in the catalog (I believe it’s the necklace extenders) even if you don’t need them.

I’d love to hear what your favorite Lia Sophia pieces are!

Usborne Book Giveaway

Stephanie, an Usborne Books representative, recently e-mailed me and asked if I would be interested in hosting an e-show. Ever since I can remember I’ve loved books and reading.  Fortunately I’ve passed on my love of reading to the kids and have raised a couple of voracious readers.  When my kids were little I purchased many a book from the Usborne Book Fairs at their daycare to help satisfy their appetite for books.
Since my kids are older, it had been a while since I had looked at Usborne books so I took some time to review what they had to offer.   Let me tell you, as I was perusing their website I was impressed by the wide selection of books they had.  Here are some of the things I like about Usborne books:
  •   HUGE selection of books at reasonable prices
  • Groupings by age allow you to easily shop for the special kid
  •  Lots and lots of learning books.  If there is a topic that your kid is interested in I’d be terribly surprised if Usborne didn’t carry it.
  • They support a lot of charities, from literacy programs and cancer research to local schools and daycares.  Proceeds from their Cuddle Bear book go to support the Scott Carter Foundation
As I said, the selection of books is huge but here are some of my favorites:

  • Are you buying for a kid who has a fascination with airplanes? I would recommend 100 Paper Planes to Fly with actual tear out pages for $7.99.
  • Do you have a kid who loves volcanoes?  Consider getting them a kit to make an actual volcano.  For $17.99 you can get the Volcano Kid Kit
  •  Want to teach your kid to cook?  Try out this free download from Usborne’s site for Pretty Pear Tarts.  You can find more recipes like this in the 30 Healthy Things to Cook and Eat for only $9.99
  • Entertain your kids with Green Gloop, just one of the many science experiments available in Usborne 100 Science Experiments for $15.99
  • Looking to educate your budding artist on famous paintings?  I love The Usborne Book of Famous Paintings which gives a simple explanation of some of the famous paintings that have helped shaped our view of the artistic world.
  • Learn about the ancient world.  As a lover of history I find myself wanting to buy the Encyclopedia of the Ancient World just for me!  Not only can you learn about the Trojan Horse and why Julius Caesar was murdered but you can also find out even more about them since this book has a special internet link allowing your kids to delve deeper into their topic of interest.
  • Does distance separate you from your kids or grandkids?  How about recording your voice reading either Twas the Night Before Christmas or Guess How Much I Miss You.  Better yet have your kids record it for their loved ones.

Here is a little blurb from the company website.
You are invited to an Usborne Books & More eShow to explore the world of Usborne and Kane Miller books. A child’s interest in reading and learning is stimulated by the lavish illustrations and informative content. There are over 1500 bright, colorful and fun titles covering touchy-feely baby books, wonderful preschool picture books, early reading books, chapter books, reference books, sticker books, activity cards and a wide range of subjects for children of all ages.
Here is the link to my eshow, it will be open until August 29th.  Since this is an eshow, I will receive hostess rewards for any books that you may decide to purchase. Are you ready for the fun stuff? Stephanie has graciously offered a $20 gift certificate for one of my readers.  There are up to five chances to win.
Here is how to enter:
1.        Leave a comment.  Even though not required I would love for you to check out Stephanie’s site and tell me what book(s) you would order if you win.  Hint:  There is also an opportunity to win $50 worth of books available on her website.
2.       Follow me on Facebook (leave a comment letting me know that you did)
3.       Follow me on Pinterest (leave a comment letting me know that you did)
4.       Follow me on Twitter  (leave a comment letting me know that you did)
5.       Receive Wonder Woman I’m Not via e-mail (I’m sure you know the drill by now!)
Giveaway ends August 29th.
I’d like to thank Stephanie for allowing me this chance to host the eshow and get reacquainted with Usborne books.  If you are looking for an opportunity to offer a show here at Wonder Woman I’m Not you can find the details at the top of the page.  Stay tuned for the September show which will feature Lia Sophia Jewelry with Heather as the consultant.  Heather and her daughter Breanna have actually done a live show for me so I’m excited to give them the opportunity to share their products with you.

The Lucky One Giveaway

Would you like to be invited to my Nicholas Sparks House Party? I was one of the “lucky ones” (ha! Aren’t I clever?) to win the Nicholas Sparks Potluck House Party featuring the book “The Lucky One” (ok – do you get it now?) and would like to offer you the opportunity to join us. Alright, you aren’t actually going to receive an invitation to my house but I am offering you the opportunity to participate in my House Party by receiving a free copy of the book The Lucky One.

What is House Party? Let me tell you a little bit about it. House Party is a website that major companies use to promote new products. I was selected at Christmas time to host a Just Dance House Party. As part of my “party pack” I received a free copy of the Just Dance 3 game for Kinect. Since it was Belle’s birthday, we had our House Party coincide with her birthday party. Everyone had a great time and I was a ‘rock star’ mom. Parties that are currently accepting applications include Blue Bunny & Redbook. Check it out, you just may be the next House Party host or hostess.

For my Nicholas Sparks House Party I received 14 copies of the book The Lucky One, which will soon be released as a movie. Each attendee received a book to read before the party but I still have five books left over. I debated what to do with my leftover books and decided that they would make a great giveaway. Sooooo, I’d like to offer you a chance to get one of the books for free.

Here are the rules of entry. Each contestant can have up to five chances to enter. Completing each task gives you one opportunity to win

1. Leave a comment below making sure I know how to get in contact with you
2. For an additional entry, “like” me on Facebook
3. For an additional entry follow me on Pinterest
4. For an additional entry follow me on Twitter (@wonderwomanimno)
5. For an additional entry sign up to receive my posts via e-mail (right hand side of blog)
Five people will win one paperback copy of The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and one bookmark. Winners will be notified by e-mail. The drawing will be held on April 27th.

I have to say that I flew through this book and loved it! Not all of Nicholas Sparks’ books appeal to me but this was definitely a good one. Whether you are a winner or not I would encourage you to read the book.

Good Luck!

That Works for Me!

Being an amateur blogger can be a little weird and unsettling. Every few days you sit down to write out what’s on your mind. Sometimes you may share a recipe, a tip that helps bring some order into the chaos you call life or you just might share what’s going on with your family.

There are no hard and fast rules to becoming a successful blogger so we come to rely on others as we find our way. We look for blogs and writers we like to follow, trying to either emulate them or learn from their successes and failures. Using tools like comments and analytics we try to determine our reach. Are we actually reaching people who care what we think? Is it possible we are standing on a stage giving a speech, only to realize we’ve been talking to ourselves for the last hour?

As a blogger who doesn’t make any money at this point (it’s a good thing I’m doing it for love isn’t it?) it can be difficult to measure my success. If I was making a lot of money I would be successful, right? Maybe, maybe not. Money is nice and certainly helps pay the bills, but as an amateur blogger recognition means more. Having a well respected blogger take a little notice of you and actually tell you that she likes some of your posts can be more thrilling than money.

A few months ago I received an e-mail from Kristen Welch at We are THAT Family. For those of you who may not know Kristen, she runs (with the help of her friend Maureen) a maternity house over in Africa. Mercy House is a safe haven for young, potentially abused, pregnant women who have nowhere to turn. All proceeds from her blog go to support Mercy House. In her e-mail to me she asked if she could use three of my posts that I had submitted to her “Works for Me Wednesday” link party in her new e-book.

Hmmmm, let me think about this. A well respected author in the blogging community wants me to be involved with her new e-book. A book, whose proceeds go to support a home for unwed mothers which is a charity that is near and dear to my heart. It took me all of about five seconds before I accepted. I did wait the full five seconds because how uncool would it be to respond immediately?

I felt a little like Sally Field accepting the Oscar “you like me, you really like me!” Ok, those weren’t the exact words that Sally used and I don’t know that I could go so far as to say everyone likes me. However, it is an honor to be included in a book with some truly gifted bloggers. I’m truly very grateful and honored to have been chosen to participate in this project.

With that being said the book That Works for Me! went on sale yesterday for $8. As a contributor Kristen has graciously supplied me with a coupon offering you a dollar off the sale price making your price $7. Outside of my small contribution, there are some great ideas and I would encourage you to check it out. You just never know what life altering tips or other interesting blogs you may find that can help simplify your life a little bit. Who knows, you may be able to maintain the illusion that you really are Wonder Woman just a little longer!

To purchase a copy of the e-book, Click here to visit wearethatfamily. and use the code SAVE1.  I purchased my copy this morning.  Over the next few days I’ll be reading all the different tips and sharing some of my favorites with you.

To kick off the sale of her book, Kristen is also running a contest where she is giving away a certificate for $150 in house cleaning. To enter, all you need to do is click here  and enter a tip. I don’t know about all of you but I’ll take $150 in free house cleaning!

As if it can’t get any better, Kristen has also given me a copy for me to give away.  There are several ways to enter, up to five entries per person.

The drawing will be held on April 20th, the winner will be notified by e-mail.

Good luck!
